OECD PaRIS initiative

As part of an international consortium, in the OECD “Patient-Reported Indicator Surveys” (PaRIS), OptiMedis developed procedures to assess the experiences of and outcomes for chronically ill patients, and to collect data in OECD countries. The aim is to develop internationally comparable indicators and to assess the experiences and outcomes of chronically ill patients in outpatient care.  Among other activities, OptiMedis developed a questionnaire from the proven Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) methodologies.

JADECARE

The Joint Action on implementation of digitally enabled integrated person-centred care (JADECARE) is part of an EU funded project and part of the EU’s “The third health programme 2014-2020 – funding health initiatives”. A patient-centric digitally supported health care for the population should be promoted as part of the digital transformation of the health systems in the EU. Seventeen partners from forty regions across Europe are participating in the project. Four best practice models in Europe serve as templates for the implementation of reliable and proven health care methods in the various European health systems; one of these is the health care model developed by OptiMedis. In cooperation with the Eurometropolis Strasbourg, OptiMedis advises institutions in six European countries on the introduction of the OptiMedis approach.

SAFEST

SAFEST’s ambition is to play a decisive role in improving patient safety in perioperative care, through the definition, implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based standardised practices developed by SAFEST in 10 hospitals in 5 EU countries. Between 8% and 12% of patients admitted to hospitals in the EU suffer adverse events. Of these, surgical adverse events are among the most common. When considering surgical safety, one must consider the entire surgical pathway. In fact, several studies have shown that most surgical errors occur outside the operating room, before and after surgery. In addition to the damage caused in terms of loss of life, the economic burden for the EU public health sector is significant: direct costs related to patient safety represent around 21 billion EUR (1.5% of healthcare expenditure).

COMPAR-EU

COMPAR-EU aims to identify, compare, and rank the most effective and cost-effective self-management interventions (SMIs) for adults in Europe who suffer from type 2 diabetes, obesity, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and heart failure. Based on the development on a thorough comparison of various SMIs, decision making tools are made for doctors, patients, guideline developers and political decision makers. OptiMedis is one of seven partners from five countries. OptiMedis is responsible for the project website, www.self-management.eu, which, in the future, will have comprehensive information available for patients and service providers and will act as the primary information portal on this topic in the EU. In addition, we are developing a Data Management Plan which will assist in collecting and processing larger data volumes for the duration of the project, a plan to communication and dissemination plan for the project and business plans for the practical implementation of the chosen interventions.

Scirocco Exchange

The SCIROCCO Exchange project aims to support health and social care authorities in the adoption and scaling-up of integrated care in Europe. The project includes the development of models for integrated health care, implementation in several EU states and the relevant knowledge transfer. OptiMedis is managing the SCIROCCO Exchange Maturity Model for the integrated health care in Germany and provides, based on the insights from the matrix, specific measures to improve quality to the federal states, relevant to regional needs.
