Editorial

Oliver Groene 279x372Dr Oliver Gröne Dear Readers, dear Friends,

for some time, we have collaborated with partners abroad to deliver our services and know-how. Now the time has come to strengthen our international presence and we have, next to the already existing OptiMedis NL, established a joint-venture with the contracting and finance specialists from COBIC in the United Kingdom. Our new company OptiMedis-COBIC UK Ltd has the ambition to implement and manage newly established Accountable Care Systems in the NHS Context. As a value-driven organisation with patients at the heart of our business we are looking forward to these exciting opportunities that this partnership brings.

Our international work is also supported by the award of a prestigious EU Marie Sklodowska-Curie Training Network Grant. This grant will establish a training network of 13 doctoral students in the field of health care data science and performance improvement in close collaboration with an international network of experts and organisations working in this field.

Another example of international collaboration is the German-Russian Conference on “Value-based Healthcare for Regions” hosted last week in Hamburg in collaboration between OptiMedis, University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) and Hamburg Network for Health Services Research (HAM-NET).

But there are also a lot of exciting developments in Germany. Our population-based integrated care project for deprived urban communities is gaining national and international attention, we are working towards establishing much larger population-based networks in the Greater Rhine-Neckar Region and our MyDoks Project (giving patients access and control over their own health and medical data) won a national award.

I hope you enjoy reading it!

Sincerely yours,

Dr Oliver Gröne
